Antique Clocks

Mauthe clocks is a name that goes back to the founder Friedrich Mauthe (1822-1884). Mauthe, founded a watch factory in 1844 in Schwenningen. End of the 1860s began with the manufacturing of wall clocks. Mauthe used in the 1880s, an eagle in the clutches of a subdivided circle with the initials of the founder of F and M as the logo. By 1900, the watchmakers employed more than 1,100 people and produced a full line of alarm clocks, pendulum wall clocks, grandfather clocks and office clocks.

Since 1946 Mauthe, also manufactures wristwatches. It used Mauthe in cursive as a logo without symbols. Awareness of the brand grew in the 1950s when Volkswagen, gave to the VW car owners who had traveled with his Volkswagen with the same engine and without significant engine repairs 100,000 km, a certificate, a gold pin, an enamel plaque and a wristwatch. These watches were from Mauthe and were made in considerable number.

Mauthe presented forth its own mechanical work and continued to embrace this technology. By the early 1970s strongly emerging quartz movements, the company lost market share and got into financial difficulties. The insolvency of the Mauthe Clock Factory in 1975 ended a 130-year history, which had survived for five generations of family ownership.
